Thoughtful Deleted Scene #1!!

Happy Monday!!! As a treat for all of my amazing readers, I have a fun bonus scene from Thoughtful! Read what happened when Joey moved out…

*Joey Moves Out*

The guys and I spent several hours at the bar, drinking, eating, laughing…making fun of Griffin, but eventually I was ready to go home. Maybe I’d watch some mindless TV before bed, that sounded relaxing. When I pulled into my spot, Joey’s black Civic was in the driveway. If she was still mad at me, this might not be a relaxing evening after all. I shut my car off with a sigh, then closed the door and got out. Might as well get this over with.

The front door was ajar when I stepped up to it. I could hear banging and crashing upstairs, and for a split second, I was worried that someone had broken into the house and Joey was in trouble. Then I heard her loud, irritated voice spouting sailor-worthy curses, and I knew she was fine. Still pissed from the sounds of it, but fine.

Closing the door, I trudged upstairs to put my guitar away. Joey assaulted me the moment I set foot in the upstairs hallway. Emerging from her room, she pointed a bright red nail in my direction. “You! I cannot believe you!”

Containing a sigh, I wondered what I’d done now. A guy stepped out of the bedroom from behind Joey. I’d seen him at the house before, usually wrapped around Joey. He was an odd mixture of thug and preppy. I half expected him to challenge me to a dance-off as he narrowed his eyes at me. He even cracked his knuckles, like I was supposed to be scared of him or something. I wasn’t the best fighter around, but I was pretty sure I could hold my own with this guy.

Ignoring him and Joey’s statement, I asked, “Something going on up here?”

Joey’s dark eyes blackened as they seemingly absorbed the light from the room. “Don’t fuck with me, Kellan. You already know what’s going on. I’m moving out. I already told you that this afternoon. I can’t handle your drama queen shit anymore.”

I had to bite my cheek to stop myself from commenting on that. Me? I was the drama queen in this twosome? Really. She was smirking in such a way that I knew she was intentionally trying to goad me into a fight with her. She probably wanted her two boy-toys to come to blows over her honor. Well, that wasn’t going to happen with me. I wasn’t playing her game. If she wanted to leave, she was more than welcome to.

Shrugging, I moved past her, towards my room. “All right, if that’s what you want to do.”

From the corner of my eye, I saw her fist clench. She didn’t want me ambivalent. She wanted me incensed. I wasn’t though. Other than the fact that I would hate how quiet the house would be until I got a new roommate, I just didn’t care if she stayed or not. After tossing my guitar case on my messy bed, I twisted back to Joey. “Need help with anything? You taking the furniture? I could give you a hand?”

Joey tossed her hands up into the air with a dramatic flair that was almost impressive. “Does it look like I have a fucking U-Haul downstairs? No, I’m not taking the fucking furniture. I’ll come back for that shit later. I just need to get out of this city. Maybe out of this fucking state.”

She was going to leave the state because she was ticked at me? Wow. Guess her dramatics didn’t end with her gestures. “Okay. I guess I’ll hold it for you. For a while.”

Joey gave me an expression that was filled with contempt. “You do that.” Over her shoulder, she shot Flashdance a look. “Grab the bags, Tommy. I’m out of this hellhole.”

Tommy disappeared into the room to fulfill his princess’s wish. I wanted to tell him good luck, but I kept my mouth shut. The sooner Joey left, the sooner I could shower. Tommy was piled high with bags when he finally returned. Seeing her manservant was ready, Joey shifted her attention to me. “Have a nice life, Kellan. And by nice, I mean completely shitty.”

Plastering a warm smile on my face, I lifted my hand in a wave. “See ya, Joey. It’s been a pleasure.” Because I couldn’t stop myself, I suggestively wriggled my eyebrows at her. She made a disgusted snort, then stalked towards the stairs. Like any good puppy would, Tommy immediately followed after her.

Once the front door banged shut, and I heard Joey’s car squeal away, I glanced into her empty bedroom. There was a fully made bed, a dresser with a TV, and a nightstand with an alarm clock, but that was it. All Joey’s artwork was gone, the clothes strung about the floor were gone, the makeup that cluttered her dresser was gone. All that was left of her was a lingering trace of her perfume, but that would soon be gone too.

“Well,” I muttered to absolutely no one, “guess I’ve got a free room.” A room that I hoped filled up quickly. I hated the sound of an empty home.
